Back in the fall of 2013, the Stearns County Board of Commissioners approved tacking on $10 to vehicle license tab renewals called a "Wheelage Tax". The additional funding is to help pay for a road construction project backlog. In today's installment of "Whatever Happened With That?" we give you an update on the tax four years later.
A public hearing is scheduled for next month so Stearns County commissioners can consider how to fund road construction projects over the next five years.
It could cost Stearns County residents more when they license their vehicles or when they buy merchandise in the county. Commissioners are considering options to raise additional money for county road and bridge projects.
