After a year of lane restrictions, road closures, and traffic jams, the West Metro Corridor project in northwest St. Cloud is nearing completion. A wetter than normal summer threatened the project's completion date, but the project engineer says a dry September saved the project from spilling over into next year.

Veterans Drive will be closed overnight tomorrow (Wednesday) as part of the West Metro Corridor project. Workers will be installing the final storm sewer connection across eastbound Veterans Drive.

Work on the West Metro Corridor project will move forward despite the government shutdown. Assistant Stearns County Engineer Jodi Teich says they didn't have the luxury to shut down the project.

Work on the West Metro Corridor is closing a lane of traffic on Ridgewood Road/County Road 134 in each direction for the reconstruction of part of that roadway. The work will continue throughout the summer.

We told you last week the West Metro Corridor project would stop if the state government shuts down. But, today Stearns County Highway Engineer Mitch Anderson told the county board they can't afford any delays in the project. He says they need to get it open to traffic by the scheduled date in November.

Plans to close a portion of veterans Drive because of the West Metro Corridor project were pushed back Sunday because of rain. The closure will now take place between 7:00 p.m. tomorrow (Wednesday-tonight) and 7:00 a.m. Thursday.

The Stearns County Engineer's Office says Veterans Drive will be closed again Thursday night into Friday morning. Veterans Drive will be closed from 7:00 p.m. Thursday until 7:00 a.m. Friday for sewer and water crossings

Workers will be placing bridge beams in place as part of the West Metro Corridor project. The work will prompt the closure of Veterans Drive between Anderson Avenue and Stearns County Road 134 between 7:00 p.m. Tuesday and 7:00 a.m. Wednesday.
