Duck, geese, grouse and pheasant hunting has been going on in Central Minnesota. Glen Schmitt from Outdoor News joined me on WJON. He says the weather has caused more ducks to stay in the area longer then they normally do. Schmitt indicates he doesn't expect them to stick around much longer but he's been seeing plenty of mallards and teal.

He says with the warmer weather the ice along the lake shores has been affected and public lake access could be a concern for late season ice fishermen and women. Glen says anglers should air on the side of caution in regards to ice conditions and using a 4-wheeler or just walking onto the ice would be a better option if these weather conditions continue.

It's November and the highs are in the 70s this Friday afternoon.

Officials are predicting an early start to Minnesota's spring fire season due to the recent warm, dry weather.

This stretch of unusually warm days has certainly been a game-changer for wintertime outdoors enthusiasts.

Many Midwesterners hope for a January thaw, when the temperatures briefly inch above freezing. However, history indicates that a warm December and January are often followed by a colder-than-average February and March.
