The Twins beat the Phillies 6-2 in Philadelphia Saturday. Minnesota jumped out to a 3-nothing lead in the 3rd inning. Byron Buxton scored on a Jake Arrieta wild pitch before Max Kepler and Willian Astudillo hit back to back home runs.
Twins, Berrios Win Season Opener
The Twins blanked the Cleveland Indians 2-0 Thursday to win their season and home opener. Jose Berrios made his first opening day start and threw 7 2/3 innings with 2 hits and no runs allowed with 10 strikeouts to earn the win.

The Twins signed infielder Adam Rosales to a minor league contract with an invitation to Major League spring training. He signed a $1 Million base contract with $250,000 in incentives.

The Twins announced today they plan to retire Joe Mauer's number #7 at a ceremony during the 2019 season. The date has not been determined yet. Mauer announced his retirement following the season.
Twins Claim C.J. Cron
The Twins added some first baseman/DH depth by claiming C.J. Cron after he was designated for assistant by the Tampa Bay Rays last week. The 28-year old Cron batted .253 with 30 home runs and 74 RBIs playing first base and designated hitter for the Rays in 2018.
Cleveland Routs Twins 8-1
The Twins lost 8-1 at Cleveland Monday night to fall 14 games back of Cleveland for first in the American League Central. Cleveland scored 2 runs in the 3rd inning, 1 in the 4th and 4 in the 6th inning. Minnesota scored their lone run on a solo home run from Jake Cave in the 9th inning.
