Stearns County residents would likely see a decrease in the county portion of their taxes in 2013 despite a proposed increase in the budget for next year.
Stearns County will collect less taxes next year after the board of commissioners voted on a 1% decrease in the 2012 budget. The board had three options to choose from including a 1% increase, a 1/3% decrease and a 1% decrease.
Sartell residents will see the city portion of their property taxes hold the line in 2012. The city council approved a preliminary budget and tax levy Monday.
