A group of supporters toured the site of the future St. Cloud Area YMCA Community and Aquatics Center today (Tuesday). The Y held a "Raising the Wall" ceremony.Executive Director Greg Gack says they're just a few months into construction but they remain on schedule and on budget.
The St. Cloud YMCA is making a final financial push to fund the new Community and Aquatic Center. The organization kicked of the community phase of the project today (Wednesday) in an effort to raise the final $1.4-million needed to begin construction on the 103,000-square-foot facility.
Members of the St. Cloud City Council continue to have concerns about the plan for the Aquatic and Community Center. The council discussed the design and budget during a work study session this (Monday) evening.
We're about six months away from when supporters are hoping to break ground on the St. Cloud Aquatic and Community Center. However, the Executive Director of the St. Cloud YMCA Greg Gack says they won't start construction until all the money has been raised. He says they're working on a specific dollar figure for the project right now.
Later this year we should have an idea of what a new Community Aquatics Center might look like. This week the St. Cloud City Council approved the hiring of HMA Architects to design and construct the facility.
