St. Cloud V.A.

The St. Cloud V.A. is waiting for the approval of booster COVID-19 Moderna and Johnson and Johnson vaccines from the FDA. Public Affairs Officer Barry Venable joined me on WJON today. He says the V.A. is preparing for the go ahead to start administering 3rd doses/boosters to eligible veterans.

Alfonso S. Alarcon, MD was recently appointed as Director, Surgical and Specialty Care Integrated Clinical Community at the St. Cloud VA Health Care System. Dr. Alarcon and St. Cloud V.A. Public Affairs Officer Barry Venable joins me on WJON today.

The St. Cloud V.A. continues to progress with their Covid-19 vaccine rollout. Today on WJON's Voices for Veterans segment I was joined by Director of Pharmacy J.D. Anderson and Public Affairs Officer Barry Venable from the St. Cloud V.A. Anderson says the St. Cloud V.A. has administered more than 18,000 doses of the vaccine and approximately 6,000 veterans have completed the vaccination process.

We talked about how the St. Cloud V.A. is helping veterans during the COVID-19 outbreak and what steps they are taking to ensure the safety of staff and veterans during this time.

Our monthly "Voices For Veterans" segment aired today on WJON. I talked with Public Affairs Officer Barry Venable and Green Environmental Services Coordinator Mary Wenck. The two announced that the St. Cloud V.A. has received recognition as a top 25 "green" medical facility in the U.S.

This month our Voices For Veterans segment featured Luke Steinbach, Joy Finkelson and Barry Venable from the St. Cloud V.A. Luke works with Nutrition and Food Service at the VA. March is National Nutrition Month. Luke talked about how veterans can manage their weight and lose weight when needed.

The monthly WJON Voices For Veterans radio program on WJON aired Wednesday. I talked with Public Affairs Officer Barry Venable and Business Manager Andrew Frost from the St. Cloud V.A.

The St. Cloud V.A. has a new position of at home health care provider Barbara Buss. She along with Diane Cocoran and Barry Venable joined Jay Caldwell on WJON Wednesday morning during our Voices For Veterans segment. Barbara talks about her responsibilities and Diane talks about the "team" approach.
