St. Cloud School's are transitioning from Willie Jett as the District 742 Superintendent to Laurie Putnam. Putnam, who had been the Assistant Superintendent, will become the new school district Superintendent Friday July 1st but has been transitioning into that role for the past few months.

St. Cloud Schools are planning some building improvements this summer. St. Cloud School Superintendent Willie Jett joined me on WJON. He says Clearview Elementary will be remodeled for a controlled entrance, Talahi Elementary will have an HVAC upgrade, and North Junior High will have a couple of canopies replaced.

During the summer months St. Cloud Schools often have planned maintenance and improvement projects. St. Cloud School Superintendent Willie Jett joined me on WJON today. He says they have planned HVAC work scheduled for Apollo High School this upcoming year and an improved entrance at North Junior High.

A fight broke out at Apollo High School the night of February 15th when Tech played a boys basketball game at rival, Apollo. Today on WJON I talked with St. Cloud School Superintendent Willie Jett.

The cold weather we are experiencing this week could help to a school closure, delay or a flexible learning day for St. Cloud area schools. St. Cloud School Superintendent Willie Jett joined me on WJON today. He says he is having conversations today with other St. Cloud area Superintendents about how they may handle the cold weather that is expected Tuesday and Wednesday.

St. Cloud District 742 schools announced last week they are increasing what they will pay daily substitute teachers to $160 per day and permanent subs and retirees $200 per day through the end of the 2021-2022 school year.

St. Cloud School District 742 is still experiencing a bus driver and substitute teacher shortage. That according to Superintendent Willie Jett. He says the Human Resources office is very busy looking for many open positions that aren't exclusive to the before mentioned positions.

St. Cloud School District 742 is hosting a job fair Tuesday September 28th from 4-6 p.m. at the Quarryview Education Center. St. Cloud School Board Chair Shannon Haws joined me on WJON today. She says there is a labor shortage right now and they are looking for full and part time employees.

St. Cloud School District 742 is committed to in-person learning this upcoming school year. That according to St. Cloud School Superintendent Willie Jett. He joined me on WJON today. He says he believes in-person learning gives students the best educational opportunity.

St. Cloud Schools is planning to continue with full in-person learning this fall. St. Cloud School Board Chair Shannon Haws joined me on WJON today. She says they will follow the guidance from the state and state health department in regards to COVID-19 and at this time full in-person learning is recommended.
