social host ordinance

A loud party was broken up in St. Cloud last night and police handed out 48 tickets to partygoers. Police were called to the 1800 block of 16th Street Southeast just before midnight on a complaint of a loud party.

The Police Chief in St. Cloud wants to remind parents and guardians about St. Cloud's social host ordinance. The law, which was passed last year, makes it illegal for you to allow a gathering where underage people are drinking alcohol.

The "social host" ordinance is going into effect countywide in Sherburne County. The Board of Commissioners voted unanimously in favor of the ordinance during yesterday's (Tuesday) meeting. No one from the public testified during the public hearing.
