The artist of the "Granite Trio" sculpture in downtown St. Cloud, died at his home last Friday at the age of 94. Anthony Caponi, who was from Italy, created the pieces known as "Jewel," "Castle," and "Sentinel" to feature the new downtown mall back in 1973.
The start of Granite City Days began today (Thursday) with the Lemonade Art Fair and Concert and thousands of treasures were on display. Art can come in many shapes, sizes, and colors but for one artist art comes through faces.

Fourty years ago today (Friday) three rock sculptures known as the "Granite Trio" were built in the downtown area. People gathered around the "Jewel," "Castle," and "Sentinel" to celebrate it's 40th anniversary, as well as honor the artist that created it Tony Caponi.
