Over two dozen people have applied to be the next superintendent of the Sauk Rapids-Rice school district. Interim Superintendent Bruce Watkins says 28 people are hoping to be the next superintendent at Sauk Rapids-Rice.
Earlier this past month one school district has decided to limit their gym and health classes. The Elk River school board discussed cutting back on physical education and health classes required for graduating for more language and tech classes for grades K-12.
Parents and grandparents in the Sauk Rapids-Rice school district who want to volunteer in their child's classroom are now required to pass a background check. Superintendent Dan Bittman says the new policy went into effect on July 1st.

The Sauk Rapids-Rice school district is expected to reduce its 2012 budget by about $760,000 dollars when the school board meets tonight. Superintendent Dan Bittman says the cuts are necessary because of a failed levy referendum.
