The selection of 12 young women from dairy farm backgrounds Sunday, May 18, in St. Cloud has paved the way for crowning Minnesota’s 61st Princess Kay of the Milky Way, the dairy industry’s official goodwill ambassador.

A 20-year-old college student from northwestern Minnesota has been crowned the 60th Princess Kay of the Milky Way. Polk County representative MarJenna McWilliam of Winger was crowned Wednesday night at the Minnesota State Fairgrounds.

The 60th Princess Kay of the Milky Way will be crowned tomorrow (Wednesday), as part of the Minnesota's dairy industry's great "Minnesota Get-Together." One of the twelve finalists will be crowned to serve as the goodwill ambassador for Minnesota's nearly 4,000 dairy farmers.

This year’s finalists for the title of Princess Kay of the Milky Way have been named. The 12 young women from dairy farm backgrounds were selected at the conclusion of a three-day event for county dairy princesses held in St. Joseph.

The new Princess Kay of the Milky Way is from Stearns County. Christine Reitsma of Sauk Centre was crowned the 59th Princess Kay last (Wednesday) night at the state fairgrounds.

An 18-year-old college student from Central Minnesota is the new Princess Kay of the Milky Way. Mary Zahurones of Pierz was crowned the 58th Princess Kay Wednesday night at the Minnesota State Fairgrounds. She represents Morrison County.

Young women from around the state will be in St. Joseph this weekend, competing to be a finalist for the next Princess Kay of the Milky Way. The Midwest Dairy Association will name the 12 finalists on Sunday, during a luncheon at the Gorecki Center at the College of St. Benedict.
