My Life

This time on WJON's My Life series I talked with longtime WJON and WWJO personality Nancy Fox. Nancy grew up on a dairy farm in the Albany/Freeport area and is one of 8 children. She was a self-described tom boy who was involved in speech and public speaking starting in middle school.

This week on WJON's My Life series I talked with longtime WJON morning show host and Program Director J.G. Preston. J.G. was born in a small town in Ohio but spent most of his grade school years living in Kentucky before his family moved to Long Island, New York where he graduated from Paul Schreiber Senior High School.

This week's guest on WJON's My Life series is longtime WJON personality Kelli Gorr. Gorr is a White Bear Lake, Minnesota native who discovered radio late in high school and went on to Brown Institute for training. After graduation Kelli was hired to work overnights at WJON Broadcasting.

Longtime WJON Program Director and morning show host Mike Diem joined me for our My Life series. We talk about Mike's early start suburban Chicago, his early love of radio, how it made it to St. Cloud, why he left and why he came back. Mike spent 18 years as WJON's Program Director and Morning Show host from 1963-1981 before leaving for a job in Monticello.

WJON is celebrating 70 years this year. Longtime WJON news director Bill Henderson joined me. Bill was born in Winnipeg, Canada were he also spend his early years. He got his start in show business as part of a trio of singers at 8 years old. He also was a part of a band in high school in St. Paul.

St. Cloud Rox Managing Partner and co-owner Scott Schreiner joined me on WJON for our "My Life" series. Scott is a native of St. Nicholas near Cold Spring in Central Minnesota. He grew up with his brother and 2 sisters on a dairy farm. Scott talks about the work ethic he learned from his parents growing up knowing that doing work for the family farm was a priority.

St. Cloud Police Chief Blair Anderson joined me for an appearance on WJON's My Life Series. In the series will get into detail about the lives of many well known Central Minnesotans. Anderson grew up in Detroit as the 6th of 7 children. He described his childhood as challenging and described some dangerous situations to observe.

St. Cloud State head men's hockey coach Brett Larson was my guest this week on WJON's "My Life" series. Larson grew up in Duluth, attending Duluth Denfeld High School, played college hockey at the University of Minnesota-Duluth, played minor league hockey and oversees before coaching the UMD, Ohio State in Sioux Falls and now with St. Cloud State.

This week on WJON's My Life Series I talked with longtime St. Cloud Times sports writer Tom Elliott. Elliott is now working with the West Central Tribune in Willmar after more than 30 years with the St. Cloud Times. Tom grew up in Flushing, New York where he was a big New York Mets fan. He also pulled for the Knicks and the Jets.

WJON Meteorologist Megan Moulford is my guest this time on the WJON My Life series. Megan grew up in central Illinois in the town of Springfield. Her brother and her grew up playing videos a lot and still do today.
