The Twins beat the Tigers 6-2 Monday behind a 4-run 3rd inning. Ryan Jeffers had 2 hits, a home run and 2 RBIs, Eddie Rosario added a bases clearing double, Byron Buxton added 2 hits including a solo home run. Michael Pineda started the game and threw 7 innings with 2 earned runs allowed with 8 strikeouts to get the win and improve to 1-0.

The Twins beat the White Sox 3-1 Tuesday night behind another solid start from Michael Pineda. Star Tribune Sports Columnist Jim Souhan joined me on WJON today. He says Pineda has been a strike thrower but isn't the ace of the Twins staff. The title still goes to Jose Berrios.

The Twins will activate starting pitcher Michael Pineda from the 10-day injured list before tonight's game against Texas. Pineda will start tonight's game instead of Devin Smeltzer likely pushing Smeltzer to a bullpen role.
