St. Cloud State University has requested one time dollars from the Minnesota State Legislature for a new chiller at the Herb Brooks National Hockey Center. SCSU Interim President Larry Dietz says the chiller in the arena has out used its usefulness by about 20 years.
The Minnesota State Colleges and Universities system has requested $25 Million from the State Legislature for one time uses. St. Cloud State is pursuing a portion of that money to demo some unused buildings on campus.
St. Cloud State University celebrated the commencement of more than 700 students in December in 6 separate ceremonies. Dietz says it was great to celebrate with the graduates and their families.
St. Cloud State fall enrollment numbers are showing an increase of approximately 100 students and are currently sitting at 10,164 for the 30-day count for fall semester.

Last month St. Cloud State made it known their plans to remove unused residence halls. SCSU Interim President Larry Dietz joined me on WJON this week. He says they still intent to remove unused buildings but because the removal of each building would cost approximately $2 Million, there is no timeline to remove these buildings.
