St. Cloud State University aims to clear campus clutter, but will their demolition dreams get the green light from the state legislature?

It will be St. Cloud State day at Target Field Saturday night when the Twins host the San Francisco Giants. SCSU Interim President Larry Dietz joined me on WJON. He'll throw out the first pitch prior to the 6:10pm first pitch.

St. Cloud State University has requested one time dollars from the Minnesota State Legislature for a new chiller at the Herb Brooks National Hockey Center. SCSU Interim President Larry Dietz says the chiller in the arena has out used its usefulness by about 20 years.

The Minnesota State Colleges and Universities system has requested $25 Million from the State Legislature for one time uses. St. Cloud State is pursuing a portion of that money to demo some unused buildings on campus.

St. Cloud State University celebrated the commencement of more than 700 students in December in 6 separate ceremonies. Dietz says it was great to celebrate with the graduates and their families.

St. Cloud State fall enrollment numbers are showing an increase of approximately 100 students and are currently sitting at 10,164 for the 30-day count for fall semester.

St. Cloud State University is in financial recovery mode after undergoing numerous cuts over the past year. SCSU Interim President Larry Dietz joined me on WJON. He says the University was living beyond our means financially and now we will live within our means.

Last month St. Cloud State made it known their plans to remove unused residence halls. SCSU Interim President Larry Dietz joined me on WJON this week. He says they still intent to remove unused buildings but because the removal of each building would cost approximately $2 Million, there is no timeline to remove these buildings.
