Authorities say a Washington County sheriff's deputy has fatally shot an armed man in Lake Elmo.

The Washington County community of Lake Elmo has shut down a municipal well and one of its water towers because of elevated levels of a chemical once discharged by the 3M Company.

Authorities say one man died in an apparent drowning on Lake Jane in the city of Lake Elmo.

A 72-year-old woman had to be rescued from Lake Elmo after she jumped in to save her dog.

The Federal Aviation Administration will investigate a light plane crash near the Lake Elmo airport. Washington County authorities received a call around 5:15 p.m. Saturday from the Federal Aviation Administration of a plane that needed to make an emergency landing.
