ESPN College GameDay is headed to Minneapolis. The University of Minnesota announced the college football pregame show will be on campus prior to the Gophers hosting Wisconsin at 2:30 p.m. on ABC at TCF Bank Stadium.

The Gopher football team defeated South Dakota State 28-21 Thursday night in their season opener. Star Tribune Sports Columnist Jim Souhan joined me on WJON today. He said the Gophers were fortunate to win the game and without a couple of breaks on penalties and big plays by Rashod Bateman they may have lost.

The Gopher football announced today they will play a home and home series with North Carolina in 2023 and 2024. Minnesota will play at UNC September 16, 2023 and will host the Tar Heels Thursday August 29 or Saturday August 31 in 2024. Minnesota has never played North Carolina in football but is 14-7 against ACC schools in their history.

The University of Minnesota has extended the contract of Gopher football coach P.J. Fleck through 2023. The extension will become official pending approval from the Board of Regents at its December meeting. Terms of the contract extension are not immediately available.

The Gopher football team started the P.J. Fleck era with a 17-7 home win against Buffalo last night. The Gopher led 14-7 at halftime and managed just a field goal in the 4th quarter.

The University of Minnesota has hired P.J. Fleck as their next head football coach. The deal was finalized today and a press conference is scheduled for 3pm this afternoon. Hear that press conference on AM 1390.

The Gopher Football team improved to 7-2 with a 44-31 win over Purdue at TCF Bank Stadium this afternoon. Minnesota trailed 28-23 at halftime but surged in front with a Rodney Smith 7-yard touchdown run in the 3rd quarter.

The Gopher Football team won at Illinois today 40-17. The win makes the Gophers Bowl eligible and improves their record to 6-2 overall. Minnesota led 14-7 at halftime and 21-14 after 3 quarters.

Authorities say that four Minnesota football players who have been suspended for the last three weeks will not face any charges stemming from an alleged sexual assault.
