George Friedrich Park

City leaders have their eye on an additional 12 acres of land to add to the George Friedrich Park in southeast St. Cloud. During Tuesday night's Planning Commission meeting, the board gave their approval for city staff to go ahead and start negotiating with the landowner.

Governor Mark Dayton didn't include $6-million to upgrade George Friedrich Park in his bonding proposal.

A ribbon cutting ceremony was held today (Tuesday) to officially open George Friedrich Park. St. Cloud Mayor Dave Kleis says the reopening of the park continues the vision George Friedrich had when the park was first opened 80-years ago.

St. Cloud State University and the city of St. Cloud will officially close of the land swap for George Friedrich Park tomorrow (Friday). St. Cloud Mayor Dave Kleis and University President Earl Potter III will hold a signing ceremony in the park, located approximately at 1908 University Drive Southeast, at 2:00 p.m.

You can take a walk through George Friedrich park in southeast St. Cloud. Mayor Dave Kleis is leading a walking tour at 5:30 p.m. tomorrow (Thursday). A public information meeting will follow at 7:00 p.m. at city hall.

The MnSCU Board of Trustees have approved a proposed land swap between St. Cloud State University and the city of St. Cloud. However, after consulting with the Minnesota Attorney General's office, it was determined a land exchange is not viable.

The plan to reopen a once very popular park in southeast St. Cloud is a step closer to reality. The St. Cloud city council voted this (Monday) evening to approve a land swap with St. Cloud State University.
