Sartell is considering creating a food and beverage tax. State Representative Tim O'Driscoll of Sartell has introduced a bill in the House that would allow the city to impose a tax of up to 1.5 percent.
State Representative Tama Theis and State Senator Jerry Relph introduced a bill this session that would have allowed the city to increase the food and beverage tax by up to one-half percent, and increase the lodging tax by up to one percent.
St. Cloud officials are interested in raising a pair of local taxes. During their meeting Monday the city council will consider making a request to the State Legislature to increase the food and beverage tax by up to one-half percent, and increase the lodging tax by up to one percent.
