On Tuesday the school district will ask voters to pass a new reworked somewhat smaller referendum. The biggest difference will be instead of just one question, this time around it has been broken down into two ballot questions.
Sauk Rapids voters will elect a new mayor in the General Election on Tuesday. Current mayor Brad Gunderson was eliminated from the race during the Primary Election back in August. He received the fewest votes among the three men on the ballot.
Three candidates are vying for the two open seats. Incumbent Chuck Schneider, Incumbent Mike Linquist and Shawn Blackburn are all hoping to represent Waite Park.
One of three county commissioner races in Benton County is being challenged this year. Anthony Nies is running against incumbent Warren Peschl in District 1.
Five candidates have filed for the four open positions on the Sauk Rapids-Rice School Board. Incumbents Mark Hauck, Tracey Fiereck, Tracy Morse and Jan Solarz are all seeking re-election, with newcomer Ryan Butkowski rounding out the group.
Local candidates running for the State Legislature will participate in a forum Thursday. The District 742 school board legislative committee is hosting the forum at the St. Cloud City Council Chamber starting at 7:00 p.m.
