Minneapolis Students on Flight During Emergency
Dozens of students from Minneapolis Southwest High School were on board a Delta flight from New York when one of the pilots declared an emergency. Delta Airlines spokesman Eric Torbenson says the smell of smoke inside the MD-88 jetliner caused pilots to make an emergency landing at JFK Airport shortly after taking off from LaGuardia Sunday night.
New Minnesota Law Eases Shift Swaps By Airline Workers
Workers for Delta Airlines and other air carriers will have more leeway to trade work shifts when a new Minnesota law takes effect Friday. Gov. Mark Dayton signed a bill Thursday that exempts airlines from a state statute requiring overtime pay for workers who put in more than 48 hours a week, in cases when the employees voluntarily agree to swap scheduled hours.
St. Cloud To Hire Firm To Attract Air Carrier
St. Cloud Airport officials plan to hire the consulting company Forecast Inc. to help them attract an air carrier. The city has been trying to attract an airline since Delta pulled out of St. Cloud more than a year ago.
