New home construction in central Minnesota has been strong so far this year. The Central Minnesota Builders Association says there have been 172 single-family building permits issued through the end of July.

St. Cloud led the way last year for new home construction in Stearns and Benton County.

There was an increase in new homes built in central Minnesota last year. The Central Minnesota Builders Association's building permit report shows a total of 629 units were permitted in 2016.
