You may have noticed an increased number of those maple seeds that look like falling helicopters or maybe those small elm tree seeds blowing in the wind. It's not your imagination. It's a bumper crop this year.

Once the calendar turns to April, it's usually time to start exchanging those snow shovels for lawn and garden tools. But, a cold start to April and more snow is pushing back any plans of "thinking spring".

During these cold winter days, it's a good time to take a look at your houseplants. Beth Berlin is an Extension Educator with the University of Minnesota. She says the plant's soil dries out faster while we're heating our home, so give them some water.

Don't forget about your garden shed when doing your fall clean-up chores.
