New research shows a compound found in popular anti-bacterial soaps, cosmetics and toothpastes is creating toxins in Minnesota lakes and rivers. University of Minnesota scientists studied the sediment in eight lakes of various sizes and found amounts of the antibiotic triclosan and its derivatives have been steadily increasing.
