A bookkeeper is accused of stealing nearly $200,000 from a Catholic church and school in Albert Lea. Thirty-seven-year-old Ryan McFarland is charged with nine counts of theft by swindle. McFarland was in charge of payroll and church contributions.
Two children taken at gunpoint from an Albert Lea home in a custody dispute are in protective custody. Police are looking for a man, who along with a woman, forced his way into the home and took the children about 9 p.m. Thursday.
