BRAINERD - All roads and recreational facilities in the Pillsbury State Forest, which is located just west of Brainerd, have been closed until further notice following a heavy rain and windstorm on Sunday.

Uprooted and downed trees have caused all forest roads and trails to be impassable, and all campgrounds are inaccessible.

Downed trees can present a public safety hazard. The public is asked to obey the road, trail and campground closures and not attempt to enter closed areas.

Once an assessment is made, the DNR will prepare a plan for clearing the roads and removing any hazard trees. Roads will remain closed until the road clearing is completed.
