ST. CLOUD -- The trial of a Sauk Rapids man accused of soliciting prostitution is in the hands of a judge. 40-year-old Israel Davis changed his mind Monday just before jury selection and decided to have a bench trial versus a trial by jury.

Davis is accused of eight felony counts involving prostitution.  He is charged with three counts of soliciting women to practice prostitution, three counts of promoting prostitution and two counts of profiting from prostitution.

According to the criminal complaint, an undercover officer responded to an escort internet ad and set up a meeting for sex. Officers met the woman the following day and she agreed to provide details on Davis who the woman said got her started in the business.

Two other women also came forward to point the finger at Davis who is accused of having several women working for sex and providing him with the money.

Testimony concluded today (Wednesday) and lawyers completed closing arguments before the end of the day.

Stearns County Judge Frederick Grunke is expected to come back with a verdict within the next seven days.
