UPDATE – New London Man is Dead After Fatal Crash in Kandiyohi County Last Week

NEW LONDON -- A New London man is dead after a crash that happened in Kandiyohi County last Thursday.

Officers say 88-year-old Burton Vanort was driving a 2009 Ford LGT Conventional and was traveling east on county road 40 entering the north bound lanes on Highway 23.

39-year-old Jamie Labat, of Marshall was heading north on Highway 23 when Labat saw Vanort not stop at the intersection of county road 40 and Highway 23 in New London before entering the northbound lanes. Vanort then sideswiped a trailer being pulled by Labat.

Labat was not hurt. The passenger of Burton's vehicle, 88-year-old Ella Vanort, of New London, was taken to the hospital in Rice with non-life threatening injuries.
