St. Paul Man Files Lawsuit Alleging Police Abuse

ST. PAUL (AP) — A Minnesota man has filed a federal lawsuit alleging that St. Paul police officers shocked him with a stun gun as the man was riding a bicycle, and that both beat him while he was on the ground.

Forty-one-year-old Christopher Nathan Conner filed the suit Friday. In it he says he was riding his bike home about 10:30 p.m. in July 2011, and two officers started following him in their squad car.

He says the officers asked what he was doing in the area and he replied with an expletive. He says he was then hit with the stun gun and beaten.

The city says the officers reacted because Conner looked suspicious, and that they kicked him after he tried fleeing.
