COLLEGEVILLE - The President of St. John's University is stepping down.

Father Bob Koopman released a statement today (Wednesday), saying he'll retire from the position at the end of the next school year.

Koopman has just completed his second year as President of St. John's, and has one additional year left on his appointment.

He says St. John's is -- and will always remain -- the center of his life.  But he also says the stress of the position has been significant, and he needs to find a better balance in his life.

Koopman graduated from St. John's in 1968.  He is just the 12th President in the 155 year history of the University.
