ST. CLOUD - When 7 year old Ian Hoy was hit by a car while walking to his St. Cloud home in 2009, his family feared he'd never recover from a devastating brain injury.

Now, 10 year old Ian is not only healing, but thriving.

He will represent Minnesota nationally as one of the 2012 Children's Miracle Network "Champion Children."

Representatives from the Children's Miracle network, along with Ian's family and friends, gathered at Wal-mart on Friday morning for a sendoff celebration.

Ian's mother Ronni Hoy says Ian has made great strides, and she's grateful for the medical care Ian received at Gillette Children's Hospital in St. Paul.

Ronni Hoy says, even three years later, Ian has daily therapy, and recovery will be a lifelong process.

Ian has a busy schedule ahead. He will be traveling to meet with hospital representatives and congressional leaders in Washington D.C. and Orlando, Florida.
