SARTELL -- The Sartell City Council approved the splitting of the hydroelectric facilities from the former Verso Paper Mill property this evening (Wednesday).

AIM Development, which owns the property after the former owner ceased and sold the property, requested the lot be split into two properties.

The approval now allows AIM Development to separately sell both properties.

Jeff McGlin of AIM Development was at the meeting last night. He told the council the company hopes to sell the hydroelectric facilities by the end of the first quarter in 2014.

Earlier this fall demolition began at the site after a portion of the former mill was destroyed in a fire May 2012.

Sartell Mayor Joe Perske says the council has received no complaints about the demolition, which was the councils fear before demolition began.
