Sabres Defeat Eagles in Thriller [Audio]

The Sartell Sabres faced off against the Apollo Eagles in the section 8 5A semifinals.  Ben Alvord rushed for a 5 yard Touchdown to give the Apollo Eagles an early 7-0 lead.  The Sabres answered as Brandon Snoberger connected with Jake Lieberg for a 45 yard Touchdown.  Their next possession, Alvord connected with Joey Atkinson for a 21 yard Touchdown to re-take the lead.  However, the Sabres would finish the first half strong and take the lead heading to halftime as Snoberger connected with Logan Anding and Jake Lieberg for Touchdown receptions.

After a high scoring first half, both teams stepped up their defense in the 3rd quarter as each team was held scoreless.  With 4 minutes left, Ben Alvord connected with Sam Glass for a 38 yard Touchdown, but the Extra Point was blocked so the Sabres still lead 21-20.  After a Sabres punt, the Eagles offense drove down the field and Connor Waldron knocked in a 36 yard Field Goal to give the Eagles the lead 23-21.  Snoberger found Lieberg for another Touchdown with 5 seconds left on the clock which gave the Sabres a victory.

The Sabres defeated the Eagles 28-23.
