ST. CLOUD -- Officials who are working to expand air service at St. Cloud Regional Airport have launched a promotion to try to get folks in Arizona to fly to St. Cloud to escape the heat.

Spokesman Al Kremers says they are trying to capitalize on pleasant Minnesota summers.  He says with temperatures well into the triple digits in Arizona, Minnesota offers a cool respite from the heat.  He also says Minnesota has a lot of amenities that are attractive to vacationers like fishing, golfing, resorts and plenty of lakes.

Folks in Arizona can get a two night stay at Madden's on Gull Lake free when they book a six night stay and fly into St. Cloud on Allegiant Airlines.

Kremers is encouraging people with friends and relatives in Arizona to contact them about the promotion to bring vacationers to St. Cloud.
