CLEARWATER -- A new bridge project is being announced that would replace the current Highway 24 bridge near Clearwater.

MnDOT is hosting an open house event Monday, April 8th from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Clearwater City Hall.

Information about the bridge will be displayed for the general public. Project leaders will also be on hand to answer any questions.

MnDOT picked the new location - east of the current bridge - after considering residential relocations, impacts to city utilities and local road connections.

Construction is set to begin in July of 2015 with completion in the fall of 2016.

The existing Highway 24 bridge will remain open until construction is completed.
