FOLEY - After two deadly crashes on Highway 23 in Foley in the span of a week, a multi agency enforcement effort has been announced. Deputies from Benton and Mille Lacs counties, as well as the Foley and Milaca police departments, and the Minnesota State Patrol are all involved in the project.

They will provide extra patrols with the goal of reducing fatal crashes on Highway 23 in both counties.

Officers will be looking for speeders, lack of seat belt use, distracted driving, stop sign violations, and impaired driving. They say their goal is not about the number of citations they issue or the number of arrests they make, but to prevent crashes.

It will be a year long effort throughout 2017.
