Motorcyclists Hit Road For Annual Minnesota Flood Run

ST. PAUL(AP) — Motorists are advised to look twice for motorcyclists as the annual "Spring Flood Run" takes place Saturday between the Twin Cities and Winona.

The event marks the start of another riding season, with up to 30,000 motorcyclists hitting the Mississippi and St. Croix Valley roadways.

Law enforcement agencies plan to step up enforcement in southeastern Minnesota. Wisconsin law agencies also will increase enforcement on their side of the border.

According to the Minnesota Department of Public Safety, the last 10 flood runs have had no motorcycle fatalities.

The flood run commemorates the 1965 Mississippi River flood when motorcyclists rode from the Twin Cities area to help out in Winona.
