The deep spot is Mapleton in Blue Earth County where 10 1/2 inches had fallen by Wednesday morning. St. James in Watonwan County has 9 1/2 inches of fresh snow.

Dozens of schools have delayed the start of classes by two hours, giving plow drivers a chance to clear the roads. New Ulm, Blue Earth Area, Marshall and Waseca are among school districts with a late start.
