ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) - The two-month season for Minnesotans to hunt doves is under way.

The season opened Sunday and runs through the second Saturday in November.

The Department of Natural Resources says hunters need a small-game license and Harvest Information Program certification to take part. They can shoot up to 15 doves per day and have 45 in their possession.

Doves have been part of Minnesota's small-game hunting mix since 2004.

The DNR estimates that 13,000 hunters take part on the annual hunts and harvest more than 100,000 of the birds each year.
