MAPLE GROVE, Minn. (AP) - The Minnesota State Patrol is investigating a crash that killed two people in Maple Grove after a deputy stopped a suspected drunken driver.

Authorities say 37-year-old Jeramiah Wall, of Albertville, was stopped on County Road 81 by a Hennepin County sheriff's deputy onsuspicion of drunk driving around 1:15 a.m. Sunday. The Patrol says Wall then fled at high speed, ran a red light and crashed into another vehicle.

Wall was killed, as was the driver of the other vehicle, a 29-year-old Buffalo woman. Her name has not been released.

County Road 81 was shut down for several hours for the investigation.

It wasn't immediately clear if the deputy chased Wall, but the State Patrol says the deputy "was not in close proximity" to Wall's vehicle when the crash happened.
