Man Dead Others Injured After Semi Crash With Amtrack Train

TODD COUNTY -- One person is dead after a semi tractor trailer crashed with the Amtrack train today (Friday).

The Todd County Sheriff's Office says they were called to the intersection of Red Rock Road in Fawn Lake Townships around 1:25 p.m.

Deputies say 57-year-old Donald Hedlund of Bemidji was driving a 2011 Kenworth pulling a 2005 flatbed trailer owned by Minn Limited of Big Lake.

Hedlund was heading northwest along Red Rock Road when authorities say he failed to stop at the crossing.

Hedlund was hit by an Amtrack passenger train. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Two Amtrack passengers were taken by Staples Ambulance to the Lake Wood Hospital and treated for their injuries.

There were several other passengers who also reported minor injuries but were not taken to the hospital.
