ST. CLOUD - GREAT Theatre presents a Christmas double feature with 'A Charlie Brown Christmas' and 'Frosty the Snowman'. Tamara Mcclintock directs the Charlie Brown portion of the play. She says it's going to be a traditional Christmas presentation.

"The Charlie Brown special has been around since 1965," says Mcclintock, "It is so loved by people that if we said 'oh let's do Charlie Brown on a different planet,' people would be outraged. They want to see the characters as they are. They want to see the characters they know."

The cast had the task of preparing for these iconic roles. Mcclintock says her cast has been studying to perfect the characters of Snoopy and the rest of the gang.

It's one thing to create a play where the characters you can do what you want with them. It's another thing to be held accountable to getting as close as you can to a character. I know there were some that really struggled with it...but I think they have really gotten there.

The second part of the program tells the story of the song 'Frosty the Snowman' directed by Jeff Anderson.

"The script that we have is based of the song, not the movie. We did do some different twists on it. People are definitely going to get a different spin on the show, and they're really going to enjoy it," says Anderson.

He says one of the twists include a special effect in the transformation of Frosty.

There's a different costume that Frosty wears. She's going to be snowman at the beginning of the show, and then you're going to see a special magic effect that takes Frosty to a whole new level.
