LITCHFIELD (AP) - Dozens of federal homeland security agents are at the Sparboe Farms facility in Litchfield as part of a criminal investigation.

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement spokesman Shawn Neudauer says details about the investigation aren't available because it is ongoing. He says 10 people were arrested on administrative charges, and two of them have been released.

Administrative charges are a tool ICE uses to apprehend possible illegal immigrants.

Sparboe also gave few details, but says in a statement that the company is working with federal authorities.

Sparboe describes itself as one of the largest shell egg producers and marketers in the United States. The company says it serves retail, wholesale and foodservice customers.

State police helped secure the scene.
