UNDATED - A new federal law may affect you when you make your next trip to get your driver's license.

The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Improvement Act requires all states to verify that anyone applying for a drivers license have no unresolved sanctions in any other state, such as: suspensions, revocations, or cancellations.

Minnesota cannot issue, renew, replace or upgrade a driver's license or learner's permit if you have an outstanding issue anywhere in the country.
