The Minnesota Wild beat the Chicago Blackhawks 2-1 Thursday night at Xcel Energy Center. The Wild are now tied with Vancouver for the seventh playoff spot in the Western Conference.

Minnesota goaltender Darcy Kuemper made 33 saves in the game and did not allow a goal until Patrick Kane scored late in the third period.

The Wild got first-period goals from Jason Pominville and Matt Cooke to pace the victory.

Minnesota begins a tough road swing Saturday night at San Jose.
