Each year, we put on an acoustic concert showcasing our amazing talent at our school. All proceeds coming from this annual concert are donated to a fundraiser. This event is an opportunity for us as students to give back to the community that has done so much to influence us.
This year, we are donating funds to a woman named Amanda, who was recently diagnosed with stage 4 Gastric Adenocarcinoma, or stomach cancer. She is not a candidate for the surgery to remove her stomach, and is instead eligible for a much more expensive and risky treatment called HIPEC. We are trying to raise as much money as we can to help a friend, a mother, and an amazing woman.
Our entirely student-run event on May 17 will consist of a silent auction at 6:00pm, followed by a concert at 7:00pm. It's going to be an incredibly fun night full of mostly indie and classic rock covers to both showcase local, young talent, and support a good cause.
We are trying to spread the word as much as possible around the community. Our group of students has such an intense desire and motivation to be able to give.
