MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — A Minnesota man has pleaded guilty to killing two teenagers as he drove the wrong way down a highway last year.

Twenty-seven-year-old Quoc Tran, of Osseo, entered his plea last week in Hennepin County court to two counts of criminal vehicular homicide. A jury trial had been scheduled to start Monday.

Tran admitted that he had been to two downtown Minneapolis bars and drank 10 shots of tequila in about 90 minutes. Tran then entered Interstate 94 on a downtown exit ramp.

The driver of the other car, 18-year-old Diana Rojas Martinez, and her passenger, 19-year-old Christopher Jahmar Bunay, both of Minneapolis, were killed in the crash on Sept. 26, 2017.

Prosecutors plan to seek a sentence of eight years when Tran is sentenced Oct. 30.
