ELY (AP) - Firefighters returned to the front lines of a wilderness wildfire burning in northern Minnesota early Friday, after calling a truce overnight.

U.S. Forest Service spokesman Doug Anderson says drier weather conditions, including temperatures in the 60s, could result in a "more active fire day" in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness where the fire has consumed 160 square miles.

The weekend forecast called for thunderstorms that could bring soaking rains - or lightning strikes, which initially ignited the fire Aug. 18.

Anderson says there has been little advancement of the fire since Thursday. He says some firefighters have left the area, leaving about 425 to fight the blaze. Gov. Mark Dayton, U. S. Sens. Amy Klobuchar and Al Franken are scheduled to tour the fire damage by air Friday and attend a briefing at the ranger station in Ely.
