ST. CLOUD -- Ranked number two in the nation by the National Junior College Athletic Association Division III basketball poll, the St. Cloud Technical and Community College men's basketball team is making some headlines.

After winning seven games all of last season the team has gone 17-1 so far this season.

Third year head coach Andy Cone says he's preparing his team to play their best basketball in the final stretch of the season.

"I want to make sure we are playing our best basketball at the right time of the season and that's coming up right now," says Cone.

Cone was a former St. Cloud State assistant before taking over as the Cyclone's head coach.

Sophomore guard Riley West says this is the first time he's played for a nationally ranked team.

"I've played against nationally ranked teams and came close and even beat a few but never been nationally ranked. It's pretty incredible," says West.

West was one of only seven players on the roster at the end of last season.

Sophomore guard Zach Jiskra says the depth of this years team has been a big key.

"We have had success in mostly because of our depth. Coach did a great job recruiting," says Jiskra.

The Cyclone's travel to play Rochester CTC on Wednesday starting at 8:00 p.m.
