ST. CLOUD - Cathedral football and baseball standout Jeff Fasching signed a letter of intent Wednesday afternoon to play baseball for the University of Minnesota following his 2014 senior season.

Flanked by his mother Cindy and father Gary, who is the head football coach at St. John’s University, the left- handed pitcher used his right hand to sign the letter in the Cathedral library.

Fasching said that one of the reasons he chose to play for the Gophers was the similarity between CHS coach Bob Karn’s philosophies and those of Minnesota coaching legend John Anderson.

Karn credited Fasching’s maturity and ability to throw three pitches for strikes in any count as keys to his success. He also said Fasching was a good student and a leader off of the field of play.
